Oil Painting in Layers: Achieving Luminous Color & Depth with Anthony Ciambella (In-Person)
The skill of building multiple layers of paint over an underpainting is as relevant today as it was in the earliest use of oil paint by Northern European artists, who recognized its tremendous potential toward achieving luminous optical effects. Elevate the color and depth of your own realistic or abstract painting by understanding and employing a broad range of layering techniques. Learn traditional underpainting techniques, clear and translucent layering methods, and wet-into-wet alla prima painting in this exciting and informative class. In addition, learn about artists’ palettes, the development of colors and mediums, the mass production of art materials, as well as display, storage, and health issues. Some painting experience is recommended.
