You’ll learn about the major structures of the head, the features of the face, and how to relate them to create a lively human presence. RA Friedman is a Philadelphia-based artist who has followed a career-long passion for the human figure’s ability to convey intimate and complex states of being. To that end, he recently completed an eight year endeavor working with the figure and pinhole photography.  Adept at photography, drawing, and re-crafting older technologies, his unique approach to creative inquiry involves the interplay between the objectivity of the camera and the subjectivity of the hand-made. His projects often reach out directly to the public as participants and creative partners.

Since June 2020, RA has been drawing memorial portraits of Philadelphians and other Americans lost to Covid-19 as part of The Covid-19 Portrait Project, USA. His unique approach to creative inquiry involves the interplay between the objectivity of the camera and the subjectivity of the hand-made. His projects often reach out directly to the public as participants and creative partners.
