A Ponderable Path

Cerulean Arts presents A Ponderable Path featuring work by Sam Jones, Robert Reinhardt and Ryan Ward, three artists who embrace experimentation, play and the physicality of materials in their work.  Jones considers how color, surface, line and form can create painted spaces that are psychological and emotional, rather than illusionistic.  Textured impasto brings attention to his surface while stylized forms and colorful shapes both spring forth and recede back within these complex realms.  Reinhardt navigates the intersection of paint, ink and printmaking techniques in his monoprint collages. A rich tapestry of sensory experience is woven in multidimensional layers of colors and forms. Blurring the line between disciplines, his work ignites the viewer’s curiosity, encouraging them on their own transformative journey.  Embracing surprise and the unexpected, Ward makes no distinction between recognizable and non-imagery, letting each piece guide him along the way.  Combining paint, printmaking and collage his paintings have a textural richness that gives them presence as physical objects. Evocative and humorous titles open the work up to a multiplicity of meanings.
