Alice Lesnick

I've called this exhibition "Under the Wire: Painting is Attention" because in making this work, a feeling of urgency accompanied me even while I worked quite slowly. There has to be time for giving attention where the painting pulls it. And it is difficult to trust this necessity when so much else requires attention. To work here, over and against what threatens, is part of staying alive.
