Cerulean Arts is pleased to present At Home, featuring the work of Beverly Benson, David Berger, and Alyce Grunt - paintings and pastels inspired by their immediate surroundings.  Beverly Benson’s pastels and oils reflect her love of color and the observed world. Her lush still lives are constructed through a language of strokes, blends, harmony, and dynamic structure. She believes her best work is a paradoxical engagement of her deep subconscious with heightened awareness.  Alyce Grunt paints her domestic still lives and interiors in oil from direct observation which enhances her perception and focus.  The finished paintings help fix the feeling of a time or place in her memory, and perhaps reveal an unrealized significance of a subject.  David Berger works from life and photo reference to capture the fleeting effects of natural light as it falls on his carefully constructed still lives. Rendering textures and surfaces is a special preoccupation: from the reflective qualities of metal and transparency of glass to waxy, bumpy fruit rinds.
