Cerulean Arts presents Crosscurrents, featuring recent paintings by Margo Tassi and mixed media works by Andrea Packard. In varying ways, each artist explores the poetic resonance of ocean shorelines, rocky outcroppings, tidal estuaries, and dramatic skies. Tassi's paintings take inspiration from the richly varied landscapes and coast near Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, where she has painted certain motifs for decades. Painting in oil and watercolor and working in plein air, she carefully observes harmonic interrelationships between land, sea, and sky and her works reflect her deep affinity and familiarity with her subjects. Packard's works take inspiration from the Wild Atlantic Way, near Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland, where she was a fellow at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation. Working in varied media, including monoprints embellished with gouache and pastel and collage on carved and inked wood, she takes an improvisational and evocative approach, focusing on the mutability of land, sea, light and atmosphere.
