Diane Pepe

Diane pepe is a multidisciplinary artist focused on drawings, collages, complex multimedia constructions and photography. Her work is based on concepts that mirror response to the environment and reflections of personal experiences. Reoccurring themes include explorations of light, translucency and reflection, architectural and environmental structures, and the relationship between the art and scientific processes of perception, vision and memory. An abstract reductionist approach has been present throughout her creative process.
The ongoing Memory Series began with intensive research into the processes of human memory explored through academic study and personal interviews with prominent scientists in the field. It became evident that there are a variety of theories and these concepts developed into the basis for her collages and constructions. Detailed explanations of each of the theories is available on her website, www.dianepepe.com. A concurrent theme is the exploration of the impact of sudden and unexpected events that affects one's life, identity and personal sense of balance.
