Force of Nature Virtual Tour & Talk

Cerulean Arts is pleased to present Force of Nature featuring the artwork of Joan Wadleigh Curran, Andrea Krupp, Kellyann Monaghan & Victoria Rolett, each responding to the current state of the natural world.  Wadleigh Curran focuses on the interchange between natural and manmade environments in her mixed media collages and paintings. Issues of beauty and loss, strength and vulnerability and change over passage of time are at the forefront of her work.  For Krupp, the dynamic materiality of coal reminds us of our own elemental origins and helps us re-vision how to live on a fragile and finite planet.  Krupp explores the motif using simple materials such as graphite and soot on paper and incorporates text.  Monaghan focuses on dramatic weather events in her paintings and monoprints, influenced by the urgency of climate change.  Her surfaces erupt with textured and expressive marks, reflecting the violence depicted. A passionate observer or the world around her, Rolett focuses on rising water and flooding in her mixed media works.  Using expressive rendering, layering and abstracted forms, she disrupts conventional representations in the hopes of creating a deeper and more complex understanding of what is happening to the world.
