Cerulean Arts is pleased to present Hinterlands, featuring watercolors and oils by Margo Tassi and photographs by Thomas Porett. The ebb and flow of the natural world, and their engagement to it are integral to both artists’ work. The landscapes in and around Port Maitland and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia have captured Tassi’s attention for decades. Painted en plein air, Tassi’s work captures the complex puzzle of warm and cool rocks, sea grasses and the ocean itself as it advances, recedes and reflects an ever-changing sky. Inspired by his travels to rugged Northwestern Ontario and elsewhere, Porett uses cutting-edge technology to create impactful imagery of the natural world. In addition to capturing the beauty of the landscape, his photographs engage the visual elements of spatial complexity and dynamic light modulations.
