Mary Powers Holt

Mary Powers Holt during her exhibition at Cerulean Arts

Most of the paintings in this show were painted in the evening when light and color rapidly change. Some are also a rediscovery of familiar views generated by repeated observation. They are a reflection of the passage of time with forms and images modified by light and color at different times of the day. For this show I found myself reflecting on the scenes closest to my home that have offered me unlimited compositions of color and abstract forms for almost 20 years. I challenged myself to look closely at what is around me and compare it to my past observations and wonder what it will be many years from now.
