Japanese Mixed Media Collage Workshop with Julie Zahn: Sunday, November 8

Cerulean Arts is pleased to announce the exhibition The Natural Eye: Avian Explorations, featuring works on paper by Dan Miller, Patricia Traub and Julie Zahn. Birds have been a particularly enchanting subject for these artists over the years. Dan Miller was a master printmaker and long-time Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts faculty member. In tune with his materials, the wood grain of Miller's relief prints is essential to his compositions. Patricia Traub’s sensitively rendered life studies in charcoal, conte and ink wash reference the Old Masters in technique but with contemporary purpose: highlighting humankind’s responsibilities to all living things and the environment we share. Julie Zahn uses watercolor, collage and the Japanese stencil method of Katazome in her mixed media bird compositions. She aspires to create a feeling of serenity and magic with renewed hope for a world that places nature first. As friends and colleagues, the three share a keen sense of observation, dedication to their craft and an appreciation of the natural world.
