Master Class with Gillian Wainwright: Still Life as Landscape

Master Class with Gillian Wainwright: Still Life as Landscape

$395.00

This workshop will consider the idea of approaching still life not as a collection of objects, but as a landscape. By shifting focus away from describing things and toward spatial relationships, atmosphere, movement and structure, we will discover new possibilities for observation and interpretation. The goal is not to disguise the still life as a landscape, but to use the visual language of landscape painting to deepen engagement with what is in front of us.

Gillian Wainwright is a Jersey City based painter whose work blends perceptual observation with abstraction, resulting in loose, colorful compositions. She holds a BFA from the California College of Arts and Crafts and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Recent paintings explore the rhythms of her backyard garden, balancing structure with spontaneity. Wainwright has exhibited widely, with solo and group shows across the U.S., and her work is included in both private and corporate collections. She has recently been featured in Curatory Magazine, Create! Magazine, and on NJArts.net. In addition to her studio practice, she has taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and other institutions.
